Privacy policy

Granger collects nothing about you.

There is no account, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking.

Last updated 4 November 2026 · applies to the Android app, app.granger

What stays on your phone

Everything you do in Granger stays on your phone: your library, what you read and listen to, your bookmarks and highlights, your questions to Ask and its answers, your settings, and the app's crash log. Ask's model runs on your phone, so your questions never leave it. If you uninstall Granger, Android deletes all of it.

The microphone. If you allow it, Granger listens only while you've tapped the mic in Search or Ask. Your speech is turned into text by your phone's own on-device speech recognition, and Granger receives only the text. Nothing is recorded, kept or sent anywhere. On a phone that can't recognize speech on the device, Granger doesn't offer the mic at all.

When Granger uses the internet

Granger connects only to fetch what you ask for, and to check its catalog:

  • the signed Granger catalog, from GitHub;
  • packs from Kiwix's mirrors; books from Project Gutenberg, archive.org and Granger's own releases on GitHub; audiobooks from LibriVox and archive.org;
  • models from Hugging Face; voices from Granger's releases on GitHub.

These sites see an ordinary web request, including your IP address, as with any download. Granger sends them nothing else about you. Each site's own privacy policy covers its servers.

Sending feedback

If you choose Settings → Send feedback, Granger shows exactly what will be included (your phone's model, Android version, the app build, free space, how many packs and books you have, and the crash log if you leave it on) and then opens your own email app. Nothing is sent unless you send that email. Your message is used only to fix and improve Granger, and is deleted on request.

Children

Granger is meant for adults and is not directed at children.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with its date. Granger will never start collecting data without an opt-in you can inspect.
